I am a climate scientist working at Partner Reinsurance Company responsible for leading a team of natural scientists and engineers who set the catastrophe risk management guidelines for our company through the development of natural catastrophe loss models and assessing vendor catastrophe models. Prior to my management role, work included the development of tropical cyclone risk assessment guidelines, developing wind storm loss models, and using this knowledge to assess the methodology and results from vendor catastrophe models. During my time at PartnerRe I have applied my scientifc skills to catastrophe risk asssessment and learned catastrophe reinsurance together with its actuarial foundations. Previously, I was a post-doc at the Federal Office for Meteorology and Climatology, MeteoSwiss on the topic of European wind storms and their predictability. Earlier, I was a PhD student at the University of Bern working on the topic of Extreme Temperature Events over western Europe since 1880.
